ATCC Associate Operations Technician in Manassas, Virginia
Founded in 1925, ATCC is a non-profit organization with a mission to acquire, authenticate, preserve, develop, standardize, and distribute biological materials and information for the advancement and application of scientific knowledge.
The Associate Operations Technician will perform basic, entry-level duties associated with the processing, inventory and/or distribution of ATCC cultures or related products. Duties are assigned and assessed by the Team Leader and are approved by the Manager or Supervisor. The incumbent actively supports and complies with all ATCC corporate policies and procedures.
Adheres to established company and departmental SOPs, WIs and directives.
Picks materials from inventory.
Participates in the frozen packaging and shipping processes.
Participates in the room temperature packaging and shipping processes.
Processes incoming and outgoing mail.
Labels ATCC products for shipment.
Performs other ancillary duties as assigned.
Uses computer/QAD to track inventory movement.
Maintains mechanical freezers and liquid nitrogen tanks.
Sales Order Processing:
Print, sort, organize, and distribute orders for materials to be picked.
Assists in obtaining needed documentation from the Sales group for international orders.
Assists in closing out sales orders daily.
ATCC Government Contracts, cGMP, Patents, and Safe Deposits:
Processes incoming materials for deposit to ATCC government contracts, cGMP, Patents, and Safe Deposit.
Picks materials to fill ATCC government contracts, and Patents orders.
Performs inventory duties under general supervision – including filling work orders, performing cycle counts, etc.
Education and Experience:
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
0-2 years experience in shipping/inventory or a closely related field, such as manufacturing, supermarket re-stocking or courier service, is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic packaging and shipping duties.
Ability to pay attention to detail.
Ability to read, follow written procedures and instructions, and match numbers.
Appropriate oral and written communication skills.
Possesses basic computer skills.
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
Observes safety policies directly related to the functional work area.
Can demonstrate ability to function in a team oriented environment.
Maintains proficiency at efficiently executing duties to fully satisfy the customers.
