Robert Half Management Resources Payroll Manager in GERMANTOWN, Maryland

RobertHalf Management Resources is looking for a driven Director of Payroll to build and transform a large payroll department. Our client in the Metro DC area is looking to add an interim Director of Payroll reporting to the Controller. This is a key member of the accounting team and is responsible for the company's global payroll strategy. This role will be responsible for building and enabling the team to improve business performance and operational effectiveness and efficiency. This leader will lead an international payroll team, monitor and support payroll processing for all current and future locations. Experience processing payroll for 10,000+ professionals is required. Supervises the Payroll Manager, Payroll Specialist, and Payroll Analysts Ensure payroll is run accurately, timely, efficiently and in compliance with all country, federal, state, local payroll and regulatory requirements. Direct and coordinate the implementation and administration of payroll policies, procedures and regulations and the approval of all master payroll calendars and processing schedules. This role also works closely with the Accounting, Finance, Business and HR Leadership team. Manage the overall corporate payroll functions including payroll processing, payroll taxes, reviewing and revising policies and procedures, as well as internal controls, system review and upgrades, training payroll staff, interviewing candidates for open positions. Ensure Payroll policies and procedures are applied appropriately and recommend changes and improvements to existing processes to expedite workflow and to enhance customer service. Participate in new system design, enhancements and implementations. Maintain a high level standard of professionalism, ethics and confidentiality within the Payroll department. Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller
