Data Analyst - Part time 20/hours a week.
Good knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices of systems analysis and design, database development and administration, computer programming, and documentation techniques; good knowledge of industry-standard local area network software and related systems; good knowledge of municipal government functions; ability to perceive the management information needs of users and develop appropriate database structures and systems that fulfill those needs; ability to plan and monitor development projects; ability to analyze problems, interpret, and report solutions; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and operating officials; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Working hours: Monday-Friday, 9am to 2pm
Illustrative Examples of Duties:
Designs, develops, tests, implements and maintains interfaces for information exchange between Alexandria Justice Information System (AJIS) and related criminal justice computer systems using batch files, scripts and stored procedures;
Converts Access database to MS SQL Server database;
Designs, develops, tests and implements ColdFusion tags and database structural queries to enhance AJIS;
Establishes and ensures compliance of database disaster recovery standards including backup procedures and off-site storage;
Establishes and enforces standards, policies, and procedures for data entry, file structure, data storage, system design, and data selection;
Responsible for several complex processes used to extract and manipulate data, some of which is viewed by the public;
Extracts/retrieves data used for analysis, statistics, and investigations;
Responsible for database 24x7 availability, security, and backups;
Prepares backup/recovery strategies;
Schedules and performs system upgrades;
Maintains documentation on databases and processes;
Responsible for 24x7 operation of critical public/officer safety systems;
Recommends efficiencies and new business processes for these systems;
Designs, develops, implements, and supports of all departmental programs;
Programs track data, allows for dynamic, flexible querying, provide aggregate totals, and provides valuable information to officers, commanders, and support staff;
